– Charles Phan, owner of the Slanted Door, Out the Door and Academy Cafe, opened his first Chinese restaurant, Heaven's Dog, inside the Soma Grand condominiums Friday. Phan and chef de cuisine Andy Wai (Harbor Village) developed a menu focused on noodles and smaller plates that complement the bar program headed by general manager Erik Adkins. Chinese small plates include braised pork belly in a clam shell bun and curry beef stew with scallion pancakes. The noodles, which are made in-house, are prepared in a variety of broths and stir-fries. All the dumplings and filled noodles are also made in-house.

Lundberg Design converted this long narrow space into a modern restaurant with four separate areas: lounge, bar, eating and private dining. The long, wooden bar is ideal for a quick after-work bite and drink.
