– The Grand Cafe and Beach has been created by taking an abandoned warehouse and adding a sundeck, day beds and a beach made from sea-sand from surrounding areas. Here, Cape Town meets St Tropez in a way I cannot imagine can exist anywhere else in the world. Its location near the ocean, the landscapes, the views of Table Mountain and the new World Cup Stadium all create a perfect setting.

The Parisian cafe chairs combined with rugs, antiques and chandeliers, make the interior of The Grand exactly that grand. From the dining room you can see Seelan Sundoo, the executive chef, run the show and dish up a bistro menu of tempura, seafood and oven-baked pizzas, inspired by that of its sister restaurant Grand Cafe in Camps Bay.

The experience is enhanced by cool, sexy music think Hotel Costes, Momo's and Buddha Bar and by the kind of warm and friendly hospitality you can only receive in Africa.
